Respect in Sport

Sport Manitoba believes in being proactive in ensuring sport in our province is safe and welcoming for all participants. Respect in Sport (RiS) helps us promote those values through a simple and convenient online training course for coaches and sport leaders.

RiS is a required online training program for all coaches registered with a Provincial Sport Organization in Manitobalearn more about RiS.  Mandatory re-certification is every five years.

Certain examples include Coaches, Team Managers, Trainers, Officials, Camp Counselors, Scout/Girl Guide Leaders, Referees, Leaders of extra-curricular and recreational activities. If you lead youth of any age and in any activity, you are an Activity Leader.

NOTE: The coach program is not the same as the Hockey Canada parent course (certification numbers that start with HC).

The course is designed as a tool to assist coaches in identifying and dealing with abuse, neglect, harassment, and bullying in sport.

Sport Manitoba offers a free Support Line for any suspected incidents of abuse, harassment, bullying and hazing that is available to anyone including parents, athletes, coaches, volunteers and board members involved in sport.

The number is 1-877-737-9875 or gethelp@changeofseason.ca
